We are very delighted to introduce you to Indigo 1.4\. It’s a huge update with features we’ve been thinking about since before Indigo first launched, as well as a bunch of improvements and polish throughout the app.

### Feeds & Sidebar

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_3641.png)

Let’s kick things off with the new design for the list of Feeds in Indigo. We’ve been thinking hard about how best to support the varied ways people like to browse their social feeds. On iPhone, you now just swipe left from the timeline to access your list of feeds, which also serves as a new home for Favorites and Bookmarks. It feels more natural than the sheet we had previously and it looks great.

In addition to that, you can now display the constituent parts of a Unified Feed as separate feeds. Handy if you just want to see your default Mastodon Timeline, for example. We’ve also made a few changes to better support algorithmic Bluesky timelines.

Now, onto the really good stuff.

### iPhone Duo

As you can imagine, we were very excited for the iPhone Duo and wanted to be ready with support for it on day one. Of course as soon as we got hold of our own Duos, we realised a bunch of things weren’t quite right and we worked all weekend to try and improve everything from toolbar layouts, to scroll clipping as well as integrating some of the other big changes we’d been working on. We’re \*really\* happy with where we’ve ended up. There’s still a few little oddities to clean up (like Live Activities pushing our buttons off screen) but we’ll get to those quickly.

If you’ll allow us a little moment of self-aggrandising, we think Indigo is now one of the best experiences on the iPhone Duo. We hope you do too.

#### Duo: Folded

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_0215.png)

When the Duo is closed, we’ve done everything we can to maximise space for the timeline, so everything but the scroll position control is moved to the vertical toolbar. We’ve eschewed the system Tab Bar because it takes up too much space and causes too much collapsing of other controls. You miss out on the glassy effect when swiping but you get a much more stable, usable UI as a result.

You can swipe through your timelines in the carousel and, like on regular iPhones, slide the leftmost timeline to reveal your list of Feeds. But when you unfold the Duo, that’s where things get really exciting. Which brings us to our next big feature:

### Multi-Column Layout

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_0221.png)

Multi-Column takes advantage of the Duo’s wide display to give you a great overview of everything happening in Indigo. You tap the title of each column to choose what view it shows and you can still use the sidebar to quickly navigate the first column. It looks and feels great, especially in dark mode.

But of course, we didn’t put this all together in a week, Multi-Column is something we’ve been working towards for a while for devices with even bigger screens. And on the Mac, it really shines. All you have to do is resize the window horizontally and Indigo will add or remove columns as the space becomes available.

Of course, if Multi-Column is not your thing, you can disable it on any device. When it’s off or the window is narrower, you can just swipe horizontally between pages (Note: coming to macOS in 1.4.1, very soon)

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/Screenshot-2026-10-29-at-11.59.47.png)

It’s fast, it’s fluid, and it looks so cool. Watch the gutter between columns widen as you swipe so that everything comes to rest exactly where it should.

At this point you’re probably thinking “wow, that’s so much cool stuff! Ben and Aaron couldn’t possibly have done anything more” and buddy, you couldn’t be more wrong.

### Share Extension

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_3642.png)

Indigo now has a Share Extension, so you can post with even less friction. Right now, you can only post to the active account group (we’re going to have to do some big architecture changes to support switching accounts from the composer).

### Share as Image

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_3643.png)

If you’ve ever come across a post on the open social web you thought was so funny you had to share it with a friend but \*gasp\* they’re not on the open social web so you had to settle for sending a screenshot, well, we have the feature for you. Nicely formatted sharable posts as PNGs and even a narrow option for Instagram Stories or whatever it is you kids use these days.

### Profiles

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_3645.png)

We’ve polished up the profile view a little so it works even better across device. At the top of Paired Profiles, there’s now a button to quickly toggle between that person’s Bluesky and Mastodon profiles. We’ve also added support for Bluesky’s new Profile Links too.

### Composing

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_3647.png)

We’ve moved the Post button to the top for better consistency across devices and we’re using the nice new leading aligned titles and subtitles. And under the hood, better support for Standard.site links too.

### Timeline Filters

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_3652.png)

We’ve changed the Timeline Filters view from a sheet/overlay to a system menu which works much better on larger screens and feels less obtrusive everywhere.

### Search

![](https://blog.anilineapps.com/content/images/2026/10/IMG_3656.png)

You can now pin profiles to the search view for profiles you look at regularly (not in a creepy way, of course).

You can now filter search results by social network and the Users results now prioritise accounts you follow, follow you, or you’ve interacted with recently.

We’ve also added similar filtering by social network to the Notifications list.
